icicle creek

Completely off the grid in the Cascades, this project includes a collection of cabins for an author and horticulturist, along with her husband, the head of a large, global architecture firm, and their family. The project began with an undeveloped twenty-acre parcel in the mountains. Extensive research and engineering was required to construct a bridge, road and complete off–grid utility infrastructure. The team managed complex and sensitive riparian habitat, wildfire risk as well as the geologic hazards of avalanche and rock fall. The design was the product of a close collaboration with the remarkable clients. Photography by Aaron Leitz.
